Four hours tour for discovering the old city of Palermo on foot. See the very best of the city and
learn all about the city’s history on a guided city stroll.
The itinerary begins with the Royal Palace (external visit – UNESCO World Heritage Site). It was
built in the oldest area of the city where in the 8 th century B.C. there was a Phoenician fortress.
Then we will visit the Norman Cathedral (12 th c.) a charming example of the historical
commingling of cultures in the city.
Your Palermo walking tour continues in the picturesque lanes of the Arab Quarters, we will see the
famous spots, iconic buildings and squares, like the City-Hall, the Four Corners Square, Pretoria
Square (the Fountain of Shame), Bellini Square. Arriving at Bellini Square we will visit the
Norman Church of Saint Mary’s of the Admiral (also known as the Martorana church),
decorated with Byzantine mosaics.
We can also visit the Baroque church of Saint Catherine (XVIth c.), it is a masterpiece of Baroque
architecture and decoration.
Your Palermo Walking Tour will end at Verdi Square where there is the Opera House of Palermo
